Monterey opens the game with the first score, followed by 2 more during the first quarter as they flawlessly advance the ball forward in a series of great teamwork. The Mustangs lead by 3 points by end of first quarter, with their amazing display of passes. Laguna Creek obtain a set of two points, in an effort to tie with Monterey, though the Mustangs hold their ground and lead by achieving two more points for a score of 5-2.
With the start of the third quarter, #3 Jesse Palnikov scores with a great shot straight down into Laguna’s goal. Almost immediately after, #4 Steven Feick follows Jesse for another excellent shot. With Jesse and Steven showing mustang dominance, Josh Baysa keeps up Mustang defense as he provides countless beautiful saves. Mustangs hold the third quarter with 2-8.
Laguna Creek comes out of the fourth strong as they push towards Monterey’s goal, despite the strong defense, and manage to pick one off. The Mustangs recover the ball, and stride it in for another point, re-widening the gap. Laguna Creek, however, forces in three more shots. The Mustangs skill and strength holds their lead, as the fourth quarter and game ends at 6-9.
