Monterey Trail Crushes Los Banos 49-14

Friday, December 4th 2009 Monterey Trail took on the Los Banos Tigers in a Division 1 Semi-Finals Matchup. Fans from both sides packed the Mark Macres Stadium to see the two teams collide. Los Banos was first to strike as QB Erik Martin darts it to RB Greg Williams for a 24 yrd. touchdown. With the ball back on Monterey Trail’s side they would press the gas and never let go. The offensive onslaught would start with #32 Derek Bellamy who rushed 18 yards for Monterey Trail’s first touchdown making it a tie game at 7-7. Then, Mustang QB Michael Calvan connects with #24 Evan Favors for the 31 yard touchdown. Monterey Trail went back to its running game with Derek Bellamy stomping thru Tigers for the 26 yard touchdown. At the half Monterey Trail was up, 35-7.
The Monterey Trail defense came up big once again, Ethan Clark had two picks on the night totalling for 29 yards. Lamin Wilson tortured Los Banos QB Erik Martin with 3 big sacks shutting down the Tigers offense. In the second half, Drake Tofi took control as he had back to back touchdowns in the third quarter to extend the Mustangs lead 49-7.
Los Banos would score the first touchdown of the game and the last as the final score of the game was 49-14. Monterey Trail is moving on to the Section Championship at UOP this Saturday 1pm to take on Nevada Union. GO MUSTANGS!!!
