The Dancefest, held at the Sheldon HS Performing Arts Center and sponsored by the Public Education Dance Alliance, was another big hit, as all EGUSD high schools and other guests were invited to perform.  The theme this year was Dancing in Color, compiled “as a list of colors… the end result is what we call Dance Fest; [a] variety of different dances linked by a common theme.” Also this year, a portion of the proceeds went towards the Kylee Lillich Charitable Giving Tree, a foundation that supports hospitalized children, children who have lost a primary caregiver, and other various children’s programs. The performances went as followed, including the name of the piece and school:

  1. “In the Shadows of Black” – Oakmont HS DanceFX Dance Company
  2. “Find a Way” – Roseville HS Dance Department
  3. “Love until the Ocean Bleeds” – Franklin HS Fusion Dance Company
  4. “Welcome to Hollywood…Scandals of the Red Carpet” – Pleasant Grove HS Soul Purpose Dance Company
  5. “Rock Hip Mix” – Roseville HS Dance Team
  6. “Where You Find Broken Minds” – Florin HS Master “Peace” Dance Theatre
  7. “Purple Reign” – J. René Studio of Dance
  8. “Pros and Cons…No Happy Ending” – Sheldon HS Universal Rhythm Dance Company
  9. “Fame” – Woodcreek HS Music-n-Motion Dance Company
  10. “Green with Envy” – Laguna Creek HS Infinite Motion Dance Company
  11. “A Walk on the Bright Side” – Monterey Trail HS Impulse Dance Company

Cheers erupted as all the dancers were introduced by their school, and kept going for the directors even after the show was over.  People all around were talking of their pride for the dancers they knew, and, of course, of their favorite dances. All performances were fantastic – these performances were the best yet, due to the combined choreography, duration and energy of the schools.  Everything was very well put and collided together to make an awesome night worth remembering. According to Choua Thao, an Impulse Dancer, “Everyone [was] good… no one was better than the other.” Of course, the spectacular performances reassured this statement and so the anticipation for Dancefest in the coming years has never been higher.
